How we organise a food donation drive

A food donation drive may sound simple, but a lot of small steps go into making sure food reaches the right families with dignity. **1. Listening first.** We start from what families in our area tell us they actually need. This decides the format — a meal distribution event, packed food parcels, or both. **2. Collecting.** Volunteers coordinate collection points and receive donations of ingredients, cooked meals or funds from the community. **3. Packing.** Food is packed into parcels carefully — the same care we would want for our own families. **4. Distributing.** Volunteers deliver the parcels directly. We meet people respectfully, keep their dignity intact, and make a note of what we served. **5. Recording.** We record each event so our numbers stay honest — how many meals, how many families, what was collected and what was served. Since March 2026 our drives have served roughly three hundred people, organised by a team of young volunteers who do this without any expectation of reward. Want to join the next drive?
